Fly Fishing in NC

Reel Recovery event at Falcon’s Ledge

One of the many beauties that make up the Blue Ridge mountain range is the crystal clear streams and lakes. To a fisherman, not only is the water important, but also what is beneath. Atop Beech Mtn there is plenty to catch your attention; the scenery here is unforgettable. On Beech Mountain everyone over the age of 16 is required to have a fishing license, but don’t worry if you don’t have one, you can pick one up at Fred’s General Mercantile Store. Bait and equipment are also available at Fred’s.

Buckeye Lake offers year round fishing and the fishing season for Coffey Lakes runs from April to February. Both lakes are stocked by the state on Beech Mountain, so there is never a shortage of what you can catch. Whether you’re a more traditional fisherman, or practice the art of fly fishing you’ll have a grand time at Beech Mountain. If you visit in June inquire about the Kiddo Fishing Derby, free for ages 4 through 12. You can read about other recreation at these lakes.
